Nine

Today welcomes 9 years as a married couple!!

Odds and Ends

Noelle got it in her head it would be fun to play in the grocery bag.  She had a great time of it!!

Doing homework!  Usually this is done at the kitchen table, but I just didn't feel like sitting at the table this night.  And J and Noelle were wrapping a gift in the living room anyway, so this made it so we were all together.

Even Shadow.

Noelle has her family's love of wrapping gifts!

We do a Gingerbread House every year, both of the kids LOVE it!  Adam and Noelle each got 2 sides and a 1/2 of the roof to decorate.  This is the first year Adam has done "pretty" decorating so it was really neat!

Noelle is a much neater decorator than Adam ever was.  She can be a little anal about things being neat(when she wants to).

We used coconut as snow afterward and I made a marshmalow snowman to finish it off, those were my only contributions this year.

Aside from controllng the icing J decided it would be fun to put beards on the kids afterwards using the leftover icing.

Shadow liked the icing too!  Since I STILL haven't figured out how to put the video in the blog you can Watch it here!

BTW, if anyone can explain to me how to put the videos directly in the blog with Blogger PLEASE let me know!!

I couldn't decide if he was cuddling with the pillow or getting ready to chew it.

Chugging along

It is so nice to say everything is going well with us.  This last week was very busy but at least there were no big mishaps along the way.  I have been working an extra lot this month since everyone has Christmas parties they want to go to.  The extra income is very welcome, but it also means I have been extra tired.  What I really need is to learn to go to bed, and actually turn out the light, about 10pm every night I'm home.  LOL, not much chance of that happening soon!

Adam and Noelle had dentist visits last Wednesday.  They do so great for their cleanings!  Since we have new insurance I went ahead and had x-rays done of both kids teeth.
When Noelle's came on the screen I could tell right away it wasn't good.  Her bottom front adult teeth are already very, very overlapped and crooked under in the gums.  J and I both have small mouths and she is apparently taking after us there.  Time will tell how they come out in another 3-4 years.  Good news though that her top front adult teeth do not appear to have been harmed by her fall last January.  YEAH!!  And then more icky news, the dentist asked me if she eats a lot of sugary stuff since she appears to be getting the beginning of cavities in her bottom molars.  I told him she really doesn't, but as I thought a minute I realized that ALL her milk is flavored either strawberry or chocolate with syrup.  (it's the only way she will drink cow milk after having drank Very Vanilla Soy Milk for so long)  The dentist said if we can't get rid of the syrup we have to brush her teeth after every time she has the milk.  Man, this kid has the cleanest teeth ever!  They get brushed at least 4 times every day.  We also have to put MI Paste on her teeth at bedtime every night until the new brush on sealant stuff (not sure exactly what it's called) comes in that they have ordered.  I am willing to do anything I need to do to keep her teeth healthy so I'm okay with this.
Adam's visit with the dentist went better, but still not great.  We learned he is NOT doing a good enough job of brushing his teeth on his own, which we have been allowing him to do for the last 5-6 months.  So we are back to doing the brushing and flossing for him at night.  He is still allowed to do it himself in the morning though.  Based on his x-rays the dentist thinks his bottom front adult teeth are going to come in behind his baby teeth.  This means they may have to pull his 4 front bottom baby teeth in another year or so.  It was very clear on the film that his front teeth should be getting loose based on where the adult teeth are at now.   Again, time will tell!  I did talk to the dentist about the fact that he still sucks on his two fingers when he sleeps.  We have tried everything we can think of over the last 2-3 years to get him to stop, and nothing ever works.  He did stop for a week after his tonsils and adenoids were removed last February due to throat hurting so bad when he sucked.  But once he was mostly healed he started right up again.  Ughh!!  The Dental Hygenist showed and talked to me about a contraption that they can install in his mouth that is guaranteed to get him to stop immediately.  It is put on the roof of the mouth and attached to 2 molars.  It has three prongs that stick down just below the front teeth that would poke him if he were to try to suck his fingers.  I went ahead and had them send it to the insurance to find out what they can cover, since it isn't financially possible if they don't cover it.  We'll see what they say!

Adam had his "Winter" party at Kindergarten on Friday afternoon.  Noelle and I went to it and had a nice time.  The kids sang a song or two and I got to catch a few fingerplays as well since I was a few minutes early.  Otherwise it was kinda boring.  I guess I figured they would actually stand as a group and sing a few songs or do something a little more special.  I just really want him to get to do what I grew up doing.  A huge performance in the gym where everyone dresses up pretty/handsome with tons of people oohing and ahhing over you while you sing the traditional Christmas songs!!  Apparently they did learn about Hanakkuh (or whichever of the 2-3 others ways it can be spelled!), Los Posados and Christmas in school though.  The kid brought home a couple or three Menorahs, some other candle things (Maybe for Los Posados?  They looked like a Menorah but only had 5 candles I think.) and like 1 Christmas Tree dot to dot.  SERIOUSLY!!  I am so disappointed in this whole "holiday" thing in December.  At least let them sing Jingle Bells and Up On The Roof Top, maybe a little Rudolph for good measure!!  Okay, so I have some really strong opinions on this whole thing so I'll be done now since I could go on and on all night.

I went out with a few friends on Friday night to Bliss Cafe in Arvada.  We wanted to get together to relax a little during this busy month and also wanted to try a book exchange.  So how it worked is we each wrapped up a book that we really liked and thought someone else might as well.  We passed the books around the table and you got to take the book you ended up with home with you.  It was lots of fun and I can't wait to read the book I got, which since I'm at work I can't say what the name of it is (it is at my house).  I had some very yummy Cafe Mocha and the smallest piece of $7.25 cheesecake ever!  It was so nice to hang out with good friends and just relax though!!

Mommy World giveaway

I follow a blog called Mommy World.  She always has fun giveaways and has one right now for a lotion called Skin MD Natural Shielding Lotion.  According to the website it isn't oily or sticky and won't come off the minute I wash my hands again, plus it's all natural!  Since it seems I wash my hands constantly lately this would be a great lotion to try out.!  The giveaway ends Sunday night and I really would love to win this lotion!!

Before...So Pretty!!

Here's what it looked like right afterwards.  It was really much worse than it looks in the picture.  The lighting was not letting me capture what it actually looked like at the top of the "bangs".

After the solan had to give her bangs.  Right at the top of the bangs is an area that is only 1 to 1-1/2 inches long.  It could look way worse.  I think the bangs are okay on her, but J really hates them.  We will def. be growing them back out though.  Let's see, it took nearly 3 years the first time, I really hope it doesn't take that long this time!!

I didn't get a pic of Adam, but his hais is now less than an inch long and youcan still tell where he cut it.  I wouldn't let tham go any shorter though with pitures coming up and it being winter.  Thank goodness his hair grows really fast!

Peacefull week

I am so thankful for a fairly uneventfull week!  After last weekend I really needed some calm days.  It was so nice to go to work on Monday and Tuesday and be able to relax with the girls.  We played cars, babies, pretended to be people we weren't, and just had a nice couple of days.  I even got to lay on the floor 'pretending' to be asleep at one point.  Wow, did that feel good!!

Both kids had to go have their hair fixed Monday night.  I'll post pics later this weekend when I am actually at home, but I will warn that Noelle now has bangs.  Justin really does NOT like them!  LOL

Noelle and I finished up the Christmas shopping on Wednesday morning.  Now I just need to find the time to get everything wrapped and also to mail one box to Jersey.  Wednesday also brought a visit from Aunt Dez, which both of the kids were so excited about.  They have missed her and their cousins these last couple of months and are very sad they won't get to see them at Christmas this year.

I have taken Adam out of KE on Friday mornings and am keeping him home with us so we can save a little money.  We did have to go run a couple of errands but it wasn't too bad.  I was having an awful time finding a couple outfits for Noelle but finally found some at Old navy that I really like.  Adam got a new winter coat and snow pants this week and passed his old coat onto Noelle.  Noelle was pretty excited for her 'new' coat!  She now wears a pink or black hat, red coat, puple snow pants, and pink boots and gloves.  It is quite the combo!  LOL  I'll have to take a pic next time they are all dressed up to play in the snow, which shouldn't take too long this year.

I am working all day today into the early morning hours of Sunday.  The kids are spending the day and night with Grandma Sheri, which means J gets the WHOLE day to himself!!  Must be nice!  Grandma and Auntie Stef are going to take the kids to some sort of parade up in Frederick tonight so I'm sure they will LOVE that.

I will try to post pics from this last week tomorrow morning!!

Rough couple of days around here

Is it possible to be so angry and frustrated that you become emotionless??

That's how I am feeling tonight.  Some big changes need to happen in our house, and very quickly.

Friday morning while I was on the computer upstairs the kids got out all 3 dry erase markers Noelle uses for her letter cards and decided to color themselves.  They did they works, fingernails, lipstick, bracelets, and Noelle even colored the entire knee of her pants (one of the only pairs that fit her properly).  For anyone who doesn't know, dry erase markers do NOT come out of fabric!!

Saturday morning while I was still sleeping Justin sent Noelle up to the bathroom to wash up after breakfast.  The spray and wash was still sitting in the bathtub along with the pants I was hoping to save.  Noelle decided to use the spray and wash as gel/hairspray and sprayed it all over her hair.  It was a really lot in her hair and even though he said he rinsed it already I could really smell it when I got up.

Fast forward a few hours to right after lunch.  We had a picnic lunch up in the hallway upstairs because Noelle and Justin had been playing a game and it's what they were doing in it.  When we finished up Noelle went in the bathroom to wash up and they turned around and said she peed a little in her underware (this is an ongoing issue right now).  She then proceeded to spread her legs a little and finished peeing while standing in the middle of the floor talking to us, still fully clothed.

At some unknown time Sunday, while I was at work and Justin was home with the kids, they got scissors and each cut their own hair!  When I got home I looked at Noelle and noticed hair was sticking straight up in the middle of the top of her head.  I looked closer and saw she had bangs all of a sudden.  As I was talking to her about it she kept saying Adam did it, which he of course denied.  Then I looked at Adam and saw he had a chunk of hair missing right up front where bangs would be!  Here's the really odd part, they cleaned up the mess, I couldn't find any hair on the ground where they said they did it at.  AND Justin hadn't even noticed until I pointed it out.  I was so mad I couldn't even stay in the room, I had to leave.

The kids were in bed at 6:15pm.

Thanksgiving

We had a great Thanksgiving this year.  The kids had each picked something out that they would like to have from Grandpa Ron and Grandma Sheri a couple weeks earlier so they got those when we arrived for the day.  Adam got a Hot wheels Razor style scooter.  Even though he has been asking for one for months and months he was a little hesitant and scared when actually faced with riding it.  Once he finally did he had a blast though and really got the hang of it quickly (we do require him to ALWAYS wear a helmet though!!).  Noelle picked out a really neat remote control car that flips over when it hits something and just keeps on going.  It only has 2 buttons and is made from a squishy material so it's perfect for an almost 3 year old.  They both had lots of fun playing with their new toys and old ones, not to count their Aunt, Uncles, and Grandparents!.

The kids got this Jeep Power Wheels a couple months ago and they love it.  Adam just have to have his squirt gun though!!

This was actually Noelle's first time being allowed to drive the Jeep, it goes pretty fast.  Unfortunately a couple Turkeys were not the only catastrophes that day!

That must have been SOME Turkey!!  Notice how she still has her cup of Sparkling Grape Juice though, she would NOT let us take it away.

Hmmm..I'm not sure about Uncle Merle teaching her this one.  Aside from the fact that it was her second bowl of ice cream anyway.

She cuddled right up on her sleeping Uncle Merle.

Dinner was great!  Just don't ask Adam or Noelle.  Adam whined/cried through the whole thing - he says he wasn't hungry despite the fact it was 3pm and he had only had a few chips since breakfast!  And Noelle didn't get too far before she fell asleep.  We had a traditional oven baked Turkey as well as a deep fried one that Merle cooked up.  Both were very tasty!!  And of course, my very favorite, frog-eye salad!!  I don't think it's fair that it only gets made once a year for Thanksgiving.  We had a very fun day visiting and joking with my family!!

I picked up a 20 pound Turkey on sale yesterday and we cooked it up today.  It will provide us with lots of lunch meat and meat for Turkey Noodles and Turkey Pot Pie.  I LOVE that I won't have to buy processed lunch meat for a while.  Now I just have to find space in the freezer!  LOL

A few videos of the kids

I just can't get Blogger to let me upload videos directly onto the blog so I will be linking to them on Facebook for now.  Enjoy!

Noelle's World

Noelle really seemed to enjoy Halloween this year.  And she actually wanted to dress up!!  She made an adorable little witch.  Justin kept asking her if she was a good witch or a bad witch, her answer changed daily.  It took her a little while to figure out the trick or treating thing on Halloween morning, but once she did she was having a blast!  She was pulling me along if I got too slow walking to the next candy station at Southlands Mall.

We didn't think allowing Noelle anywere near a sharp object was a good idea, so she did a Princess Pumpkin Head this year.  She also got to help me clean out my pumpkin.  She liked it as much this year as she did her very first Halloween in 2007!

Noelle LOVES to play in the snow and sled around the neighboorhood and in the backyard.  Fortunately for her we have had several feet of snow over the last month or so.

What's Halloween without glow in the dark vampire teeth!?!

Noelle always runs lots of errands with me, but a couple weeks ago I was asking a really lot of her.  Archiver's had special deals and FREEBIES going on two Fridays in a row and I took Noelle with me both times.  She did such a great job in Archiver's and then Ross that I got her this Dora bouncing ball.  Do you think she likes it??

Last week we went to the Museum of Nature and Science with one of my friends and her two youngest children.  We had 5 children 2 and under between us!!  Noelle had so much fun playing in the Discovery Zone, seeing the Dinosaurs, and pretending to be an Astronaut!  I'm sure we will be going back real soon.  The first pic has Audrey(2), Noelle(2), Declan(1), and then Zane(2).  I also had Lexie who is just 3 months old.

Silly girl!

She came to me this morning and told me she had her cape on.  LOL  She has jeans and a t-shirt on, then the flower pj's, then the blue pj's as her "cape".

Noelle got her hair cut this last weekend.  We needed it shorter, even though it was not very long, because it is SOOO thick that it's impossible to keep it combed easily.  She never wants me to do anything with it either.  Before it was cut it was a great length for getting dirty from her food or mouth.  Now when she leans forward her hair doesn't reach her mouth or drag in her food!!  It's perfect and looks very cute on her!

I have some very sweet video of her but am having trouble uploading any videos to blogger.  I will pry end up loading the videos to facebook and then just linking them in another post.

What has Adam been doing?

Adam had a very fun Halloween!  We went to Malara Gardens in Arvada with my MOPS group to pick out pumpkins.  They also had a small hay bale maze that Adam really enjoyed.  He gets along really well with my friend Trish's 2 boys, Joshua and Jayden, so they had a blast, all 3 dressed up as some sort of Superhero, going through the maze again and again together.  The kids all got little pumpkins from the MOPS group to color and put stickers on.  We also purchased our regular pumpkins there.  Adam picked the biggest pumpkin of us all!  The total price for mine, J's, and Noelle's pumpkins didn't even add up to the $20 cost of Adam's!!

We spent Halloween morning at the Southlands Mall trick or treat event.  We had fun, but there were a lot of people!  Then we headed over to our friend's house for a little party and more pumpkin carving!  As per our normal Halloween routine we then headed up to the Cordova house for a Chili dinner with cinnamon rolls and then trick or treating.  Adam had a great time trick or treating with Jae, Justice, and Noelle.  (Not to count the 6 adults following along!)

Aside from trick or treating Adam's favorite part of Halloween has always been carving pumpkins.

He picked Iron Man for his pumpkin design.  Unfortunately the design was so intricate that J had to do the actual carving.  He did help to carve a second pumpkin at a party later on.

We have had a LOT of snow in the last month!  This storm dropped over 18 inches and caused a snow day for the whole family.

Even though he is in the PM Kindi class he attends Kindi Enrichment in the morning.  I joke that he spends 4 hours every school day doing arts and crafts (not that there is anything wrong with that!!).  He brings home a LOT of artwork though!!

Because he is so advanced his teacher requires him to write a sentence on his artwork instead of just a one word label like the other kids do.

We actually did this leaf print at home over his 3 week school break in October.  He really enjoyed it!!

Adam's parent teacher conference was last week.  We have seen some odd speech patterns recently so we requested the speech therapist also attend.  Turns out that what we are noticing is pretty normal for HIM at this stage.  They are working really hard on R sounds while still reinforcing the s and z sounds..  He really struggles with the word "girl" in particular.  I guess the r-l combo is very hard.  His comes out more like "grul", but she said not to worry about it.  He had also been saying "say" and "said" weird, but of course said them perfectly when I had him read them at the conference.  I forgot to ask about about "saw", which he says as "sow".  His teacher had rave reviews of him and says she will be sending home extra work for him, especially in math.  She is allways having to find him new books to read as it is.  He can read a level 2 book pretty easily so we are working on the fluency of his reading now.  Check back soon to here about Adam's first "report" for school.  Hint - he picked "Bull".

Getting back to normal

I am starting to feel normal again instead of all out of sorts and useless.  3 months at home, only working 1 day a week on the weekend, was NOT good for my soul.  I just don't like not being busy and have no ambition to do housework and that kind of stuff while at home.  I LOVE working!  And even though my work is taking care of children it is not the same as staying at my home all day taking care of my kids.  When I am at work there are expectations and things I need/want to do.  At work I actually WANT to sit on the floor to read books and play blocks.  But not at home.  At home I am a useless blob, there is just no other way to say it.  I sit and do nothing for hours on end and after about 2 months of that I was really not feeling myself anymore.  Definetely not the me I project to potential families I want to work for!

I went back to work 2 weeks ago but only ended up working one day because of the 2 feet of snow we got that next day.  I was able to work 2 days last week, plus a job Saturday morning/afternoon and another one Saturday night (today).  I will also be working Sunday all day.  It feels so great to finally be doing something again.  I have a purpose and am being usefull and it has gone a long way toward making me feel happier and more like myself.  This next week I will be back on my normal schedule of 3 days during the week, usually, and 1 day each weekend.

I might actually have the time and ambition to get the rest of out October pics and happenings up here this next Wednesday or Friday.  But for now it's off to work I go!!  I will be taking care of a 3 month old for nearly 6 hours tonight, I am so excited!

A story and drawing...

by Adam

One of the many things we are doing with him at home is practicing writing and phonetic spelling.  Could you figure out what his story said without looking ahead at J's??

What's my time worth?

Apparently it could have been worth a box of kleenex.

Shadow's idea of entertaining himself while I put the kids to bed.  So not funny!

Brunch with Papa Greg

Greg flew into town only to drive right back out last Thursday morning.  The kids and I had a real quick brunch with him and Derrick at Denny's.

Both kids had Pancake Puppies.  They are balls of pancake, rolled in cinnamon and suger then deep fried.  They are then served on a line of whipped cream with both syrup and raspberry sauce for dipping.  Even I was tempted by this breakfast!

I always seem to forget to bring a bib when she eats syrup at a restaurant.  I joked with the server that maybe she could just go run Noelle through the dishwasher real quick.

Leaves Are Falling From The Tree...

Fall is a great time of year to be outside!  The neighboors put up their decorations last week and the kids, and I, love them.  Noelle was kinda iffy at first and Adam tried to climb on, LOL.  The kids have been spending a lot of time out front playing in the leaves and with their friends.

They love to throw them in the air...

and jump in!!

Noelle picked these for me!!
